The Juliano Varela Association was created on January 28, 1994, with the aim of promoting programs for the full development of people with Down Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum and Microcephaly through medical care, social and educational inclusion actions, becoming a non-profit institution and sustaining itself with resources arising from financial transfer agreements with Federal, State and Municipal public authorities, in addition to donations from individuals and legal entities that help to maintain the school.
The Association’s board is made up of parents and friends of people with Down, following the precepts of the founding members.
To achieve its goal of preparing these people to be included in society through the development of their skills, Juliano Varela offers family care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology and social assistance. Thus, those assisted have their creative thinking, communication, logical reasoning, cognitive aspect and socio-emotional skills stimulated.
