The Civil Society Organization was founded on October 25, 1997, under the name Samaritan Project Saint Francis of Assisi. Its creation is the result of a process of reflection and debate among citizens engaged in various social groups and religious communities who encountered a significant number of people seeking support and guidance on HIV/AIDS and its consequences. The organization conducted prevention activities in the eastern region of the city of São Paulo, particularly within the male and female prison units.

From 2008 onwards, the Organization expanded its scope of action with a new configuration, carrying out activities aimed at serving children, adolescents, women victims of domestic violence, the elderly, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Projects within the scope of Social Assistance, Health, Employability, Early Childhood Education, and Human Rights were implemented.

With a presence in 31 units located in the eastern, southern, northern, and western regions of the city of São Paulo, ABC Paulista, and the Northern Coast of the State of São Paulo, the organization boasts a team of over 500 professionals from various fields working to assist more than 3,000 individuals daily.
